On Thursday, September 16th, over 200 supporters and community members came to the future site of Educare Arizona to celebrate the start of construction for the state-of-the-art learning center. The event was emceed by Fox Sports anchor Jude La Cava, and featured remarks by Portia Kennel of the Bounce Learning Network, Ginger Ward of Southwest Human Development and Educare, Dr. Jeffrey Smith of the Balsz School District and Educare, and Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns and an Educare funder.
Musical entertainment was provided by students from the Brunson-Lee Head Start program and the school’s 3rd grade students. At the conclusion of the program, members of the Educare Arizona board of directors and other funders joined some future Educare students for the ceremonial first dig!
Construction of the facility is expected to be complete in early summer 2011, with the program opening to children and families at the start of the 2011-2012 school year.
