Educare Arizona

Grand Opening!

openingOn Tuesday, September 6, 2011, Educare Arizona opened its doors to over 175 children and their families!   The voices of more than 100 preschoolers filled the air as they began their day playing with friends and eating scrambled eggs.  Parents watched as their busy toddlers and precious babies began their first day of school, and our teachers, who have been preparing for this day since June, were delighted to see children in their classrooms.  Welcome to all!

Educare Arizona's staff includes the Head Start management team and 48 faculty from Southwest Human Development and 13 student teachers from Arizona State University.

Educare Arizona is part of a national network that provides comprehensive early childhood services to children from six months to pre-school age and their families.  The goal of Educare is to narrow the achievement gap for children in low-income areas and to provide an innovative approach to quality early childhood development that will result in life-long positive benefits and ultimately produce great economic gains for their community.  The engaging curriculum meets Arizona Preschool Standards and prepares children for success in elementary school.  In addition to providing direct services to children on site, Educare Arizona serves as an educational resource to early childhood development programs throughout Arizona.

Balsz-Educare Arizona Center for Health (BEACH)  -  Educare Arizona's partnership NOAH (Neighborhood Outreach Access To Health) in affiliation with Scottsdale Healthcare provides comprehensive and convenient medical services (including dental and behavioral health) to anyone in the community.  The fully-staffed BEACH has been seeing patients since August 15th.  A full range of services are also available to families in the Balsz Community.

Educare Arizona is a true community initiative, supported by funders, philanthropists and corporations across the country and around the world who recognize the global importance of all children getting the best possible educational and developmental start in life and learning.  In early August, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), in partnership with Wells Fargo Bank, completed a New Market Tax Credit financing project for Educare Arizona.  Ultimately, Ultimately, Educare Arizona will receive $2.3 million in net proceeds from the New Market Tax Credit to support the project."    These funds, together with the nearly 8.5 million raised by our founding board, enabled Educare Arizona to build this state of the art early education and health care facility in Phoenix.
